Cinema Politica Distribution is feeling healthier than ever thanks to our newest acquisition, FOOD COOP (Tom Boothe, 2016, 97’). This new documentary from France explores the inner workings of Brooklyn’s Park Slope Food Coop, one of America’s biggest and oldest food and market coops. With creative zeal, a wry sense of humour, and a focus on the many quirks of a dynamic coop community (16000 members strong), this informative and entertaining film is a kind of collaborative ethnography and a sobering study of transformative space, communal place and alternative economy. If you don’t want to start or join a coop at the end of this upbeat feature, we’ll be surprised!
FOOD COOP is available in French and English, and can be booked for screenings and Institutional and Educational orders in Canada by following this link.
