Rémy Huberdeau
Rémy is into exploring the borderlands as it applies up here in northern North America (Turtle Island) in the dimensions of culture and micro-cultures, language and linguistic politics in the layers upon layers of dynamics in colonial communities that are trying to deconstruct themselves. Rémy is also into exploring the borderlands in terms of Trans identities naviguating the world today. He is a artist, documentarian, editor and subtitler for mostly community-based video projects in Quebec, Manitoba, Ontario and Labrador.
Rémy is Franco-Manitoban, basically from St-Boniface, Manitoba. He started working with video at the age of 21 with the production of a first experimental documentary, Loveletter to St-Boniface with Winnipeg’s video co-operative, Video Pool, signed under the name Mireille. At 29, came back to the love of storytelling after finishing an intensive documentary-cinema program at Quebec’s Institut National de l’Image et du Son.
