INTERNATIONAL + INTERSECTIONAL DEFIANCE
Our Fall 2024 program is marked by intersectional stories and actions where community care, intergenerational trauma, embattled peoples and political oppression highlight criss-crossing lines of power, history, identity and agency. Fierce filmmaking, committed storytellers and bottom-up resistance strike a diverse chord across tales from Hawai’i, Iran, France, Palestine, the USA and here in Quebec. Our lineup salutes defiance across stolen yet defended lands, battered yet healing communities and attacked yet undefeated social movements in films that reveal the connective threads between identity, politics and resistance. The shared struggles, tactics and solidarities in this program of exceptional documentary film evidence the sheer force of storytelling and activism from across the globe. In an age of space-traveling billionaires and out of touch politicians, we invite you to join us on the ground for a season of defiantly grounded international and intersectional cinema!
